The ‘Arkas Aegean Link Regatta’ was held in Izmir, en route of Çeşme – Chios – Çeşme between 29th of August and 2nd of September.
This annual event is organised by the Aegean Offshore Sailing Club Çeşme Marina (EAYK-Çeşme Marina) and Arkas Holding with the cooperation of IC Çeşme Marina and Greece Consulate General.
A total of 51 sailing yachts and approximately 500 yacht crew took part in sailing over 4 days of the Regatta, racing approximately 50 NM.
Thursday 30th August saw the start of the race with the yacht crew and captains briefed at the IC Çeşme Marina Yacht Club for a swift departure. After sailing 17 NM, the boats arrived at the finish line at Chios Port followed by a celebratory cocktail party for the crew at Chandris Hotel. Also at the party 1st day race prizes (Çeşme – Chios route prizes) were given to “Anyting / Dere Construction”, “Shaker”, “Arnes”, “Yunus Marin – Cygnus”, “Goodday Sunshine”, “Fermer”, “Fagotto”, “Fun Lemon” and “Uysal Market – Efe”
A second day of the Regatta was enjoyed at leisure for the yacht crews to socialise and enjoy the local attractions of Chios.
On Saturday September 1st, the teams awoke to sunny weather. After sailing 9 NM, the boats arrived at the finish line in front of IC Çeşme Marina. In the evening all the crew was entertained with the beer party at the IC Çeşme Marina.
The final day of the race started from Ilıca under 10-12 knots of wind. The race finished after 15 NM at IC Çeşme Marina. The racing crew of the fleet were welcomed with a very warm cocktail party and prize giving ceremony at Before Sunset Beach. During the ceremony, overall prizes of the Arkas Aegean Link Regatta were given to “Arnes”, “Göztepe Yelken 1925” and “Ladies First”.
