Indian Empress - Grand Harbour Marinas most iconic superyacht

Earlier this month, Grand Harbour Marina in Malta waved a final goodbye to the iconic super yacht INDIAN EMPRESS.

Berthed on the Grand Harbour Marina superyacht quay, and proudly lining the entrance to the marina, the 95M superyacht was instantly recognisable and formed part of the ‘three cities’ skyline. Indian Empress left Malta onboard the Motor Vessel SUPER SERVANT 4 bound for Cartagena in Spain for a full refit.

Emma Cassar, commented, “Indian Empress had been visiting Malta and staying at the Grand Harbour Marina superyacht berths since 2005. Colleagues and I have enjoyed a special bond with the crew onboard and successfully developed the infamous GHM Crew Culture with the help and enthusiasm from the strong team of 33 crew, headed up by Captain Bruno Santos Pasquier. We all share such fond memories of the superyacht being at Grand Harbour Marina and feel quite emotional that it is possible the yacht will not be immediately recognisable after its full re-fit work and upon hopefully visiting Malta again.”

Leanne Cilia, Chief Stewardess on Illusion Plus comments; “I have worked on the beautiful Indian Empress for almost 3 years and will remain grateful for the opportunity given and the great experience. I wish to thank all the crew, we were one big family supporting each other, we share so many beautiful stories that I will cherish forever.”

The position of Indian Empress on the Grand Harbour Marina superyacht quay enjoyed unobstructed views of Valletta, and the yacht played prominent stage to many events in Malta, including the Rolex Middle Sea Regatta starts, firework festival displays and biannual traditional rowing regattas.

Captain Bruno comments, “The story of Indian Empress in Malta and my own are very much bound together. I first arrived to the island in September 2007 and kept returning every winter for more than ten years. During this time, I’ve been around many places, it’s surprising how much Malta offers for its size. I have also made many friends, some for life, some I now consider family. I will never forget all the stories and adventures I experienced while on this amazing island. Grand Harbour Marina has been a great base for us, my friend Gordon Vassallo and all his staff have been much more than work mates, they have become real friends and that is something that myself and the crew of Indian Empress will never forget. Grazzi Ħafna to all.”

Indian Empress will be greatly missed, especially its outgoing, caring crew who were always present and involved in the marina scene contributing highly to the Crew Culture the marina is trying to achieve. We will continue to follow the friendly crew and keep a lookout for the new Indian Empress, to which we will hopefully welcome back soon!
